NYSCBWI 2016 - entry for Tomie dePaola award

My entry for the 2016 Tomie dePaola award.

This year's prompt - illustrate a moment from a passage taken from Philip Pullman's version of "Little Red Riding Hood" from FAIRY TALES FROM THE BROTHERS GRIMM (Viking 2012).

Focus on a "unique visualization of the main character"

My chosen moment-
"When Little Red Riding Hood had only been walking a few minutes, a wolf came up to her. She didn’t know what a wicked animal he was, so she wasn’t afraid of him.

(colored pencil/kraft paper)

Looking forward to this years conference!
